What
cocktails should be prepared in a mixing glass?
1. All cocktails whose ingredients mix easily, but must
be served ice-cold (using chilled cocktail glasses is another important
aspect of this).
2. All cocktails that would become murky if shaken. Cocktails
that are stirred are often among the classics (such as the martini and
the Manhattan).
To stir a drink, add 5 or 6 ice cubes to a mixing
glass and stir with the end of a long barspoon. Stirring should be done
from the bottom up.
Cocktails
that may be mixed in the glass which they will be served are:
single liquor and juice
liquors that are mixed with soda
liquors that are mixed with champagne
cocktails in which two liquors are stirred together over
ice
